Mar 16, 2009
I am happy to report the first new release of the WPUnlimited theme is out, and it includes four new items, two bug fixes, and one change. For those waiting for an upgrade before committing to WPUnlimited, you can rest easy.
Progress on 1.1 is already underway, and should be ready in four weeks with many new features, and any fixes for issues dug up between this release and the next.
As for 1.0.1, here are the details which are also available in the new download file for the theme.
Files Modified
- functions.php
- comments.php
- style.css
- functions/actions.php
- functions/admin.php
- functions/declarations.php
- functions/widgets.php
Changes
New
- admin -> layout: header title align option (default: left)
- trackbacks separated from comments
- BG Options
- make Google AdSense colors match actual color scheme text
Change
- alt color now author color for comments, changes apply in admin -> design also
Bug Fix
- gravatar messed up in webkit browsers ( safari, chrome )
- if user has changed default uploads folder, uploads broke, but uploads now work
Upgrading from WPUnlimited 1.0 to 1.0.1
I Didn’t Change any Theme Related PHP Files – Just go to your members area on WPUnlimited.com and download the theme file, as you did for the first version. Upload it over top of the previous version, making sure that the new files overwrite the old.
I Edited Some Theme Related PHP Files – Upload only the modified files in the new release, putting them where they belong, and making sure the new files overwrite the old.
If you have any questions, concerns, comments, please let me know. Also, if you have thoughts, ideas, input on how WPUnlimited should be modified in the future, please let me know. The youth of this theme provides its users with huge opportunities to mould it in different directions.

Can you do something about the CSS syntax errors and HTML standards errors? When I was evaluating your theme I found 20+ CSS errors just by running it through the standard CSS validators — with thesis (my current platform), I get 1 (which was my error).

Like I mentioned in our twitter exchange, this has been duly noted, and will be addressed in a future version (probably 1.1 in a month or so), but overall it isn’t very high on the overall priority list.
I think features, true bug fixes, and tweaks to the UI are much more important than a lack of focus on fixing small validation errors that do little to effect the performance or display of the theme. I understand how some people feel about validating, but I am not really one of those people. In the end, it is nice to validate, but not mission critical.
